Tim Barter, DDS
Dr. Barter was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1990 with a diploma in engineering. He then continued his education at Dalhousie University, graduating in 1994 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Following his graduation, Dr. Barter served in the Canadian Armed Forces until 2010, acting as Dental Detachment Commander and Senior Dental Officer for Europe during his time with the military. He completed the Resident AEGD program with the United States Army in 2006. This two year program provided Dr. Barter with advanced training in all specialty fields of dentistry, with an emphasis on surgical procedures. He also received his multi-drug IV sedation credentialing during this time. Dr. Barter was also a clinical instructor at the University of Alberta from 2007 to 2010, supervising fourth year dental students in comprehensive dental care scenarios and acting as a clinical instructor for the IV sedation course. Dr. Barter’s practice at Higson Dental Group is typically limited to surgical procedures with IV sedation, although patients not wishing to be sedated are seen as well.
Dr. Barter married his wife Jill, also a dentist, shortly after dental school in 1995. They have three children. In his spare time, Dr. Barter enjoys flying either of his two planes and supporting his children’s extracurricular activities.
