Our office is one of a dwindling number of practices that accept assignment of insurance benefits. What that means for our patients is that we accept their insurance as payment at the time services are provided. More and more offices in Grande Prairie and elsewhere are going non-assignment, meaning their patients have to pay for their appointments up front and wait weeks to be reimbursed by their insurance company. While in theory both philosophies have the same net outcome, dentistry is not inexpensive. The cash outlay for a young family to regularly attend preventive dental check-ups can quickly become cost-prohibitive, as families simply cannot afford the short term cash outlay.
While we will attempt to deal with your insurance company to the full extent of our ability, recent changes to federal and provincial privacy legislation empower your insurance company to refuse to communicate with us. Our dental office is a third party with respect to your insurance policy. The policy itself is a contract between the insurance company and your employer. In matters where your insurance company will not deal with us, you may have to contact your insurer directly. We will work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. If you have any problems or questions, please ask our administrative staff. They are well informed and up-to-date.
At Higson Dental Group we make every effort to provide you with the finest care and the most convenient financial options. For your convenience we accept cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard and Interac (debit). We deliver the finest dental care at the most reasonable cost to our patients. Payment is due at the time service is rendered unless other arrangements have been made in advance. If you have questions regarding your account, please ask to speak with our office manager Cathy. Many times, a simple conversation will clear any misunderstandings.
Please remember you are fully responsible for all fees charged by this office regardless of your insurance coverage.
Most insurance companies will respond within four to six weeks. Any remaining balance after your insurance has paid is your responsibility. Your prompt remittance is appreciated. We can make arrangements for a monthly payment plan but this must be done prior to the actual procedure.
